چکیده

Existing channel allocation methods are usually implemented for voice oriented services where the aim is to reduce the call blocking and call dropping rate. In this paper, we will investigate channel allocation schemes appropriate for data oriented services in a Broadband Fixed Wireless Access network where the aim is to reduce interference and improve overall packet throughput. A Fixed Channel Allocation (FCA) scheme employing a Genetic Algorithm (FCA-GA) that is not constrained by a compatibility matrix is proposed. The performance of the proposed FCA-GA scheme is simulated in a small network with a static interference environment and these results are used as a benchmark for three other distributed Dynamic Channel Allocation (DCA) schemes namely, the Random Channel Allocation (RND), Least Interfered Method (LI) and DCA using a Genetic Algorithm DCA-GA. It is shown that the Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) performance of the DCA-GA scheme is reasonably close to that achieved by FCA-GA. The performance of LI is inferior to that of DCAGA and RND has the worst performance of all.

Co-channel interference effects as applied to broadband fixed wireless access channel capacity statistical distribution

Channel Capacity is of primary importance in broadband fixed wireless access (BFWA) networks due to the ever increasing demand for multimedia services and the possibility of providing wireless Internet. One of the major factors limiting capacity in such systems is inteiference originating from adjacent terrestrial applications belonging to the same BFWA network or to another. Moreover, the peif...

Dynamic random channel allocation scheme in HIPERLAN type 2

The need for wireless high speed data transmission is increasing. HiperLAN type 2 is an ETSI broadband wireless access network standard operating in license-exempt 5GHz band. The MAC protocol of HiperLAN type 2 is based on TDMA/TDD and resources in one MAC frame can be allocated dynamically by Access Point(AP). In this paper, we propose a dynamic random channel allocation scheme for HiperLAN ty...

Pre-Equalised OFDM for Broadband Fixed Wireless Access

We investigate the performance of a pre-equalised OFDM system compared to that of a conventional OFDM system in a broadband fixed wireless access (BFWA) environment. Issues such as channel estimation requirements, signal power analysis and sub-channel blocking are investigated. Computer simulation results for pre -equalised and conventional systems in a fixed wireless environment (SUI-3 channel...

A Survey on Multicast Routing Approaches in Wireless Mesh Networks

Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) which mediates the broadband Internet access, have been recently received many attentions by the researchers. In order to increase capacity in these networks, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi-channel WMNs (MRMC WMNs). Therefore, a vital challenge that poses in MRMC WMNs is how to properly assign channels ...
